Lagos govt shuts Oshodi pedestrian bridge

The Lagos State Government has ordered  the immediate closure of the pedestrian bridge connecting Oshodi Bus terminals 2 and 3, citing safety concerns.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, gave the order in a statement on Friday, January 24, 2025.

Osiyemi expressed concerns over the bridge’s structural integrity.

The commissioner stated: “The order, in addition, mandated the contractor that handled the initial construction of the terminal, through the Office of Infrastructure, to place concrete barriers at the entrances leading to the pedestrian bridge.

“This is to safeguard lives of pedestrians who use the infrastructure.”

He said the closure was also to conduct comprehensive structural integrity assessment on the bridge for the purpose of repairs/reconstruction works.

Osiyemi urged pedestrians to use the alternative bridge located 30 metres away, pending the outcome of the structural integrity assessment.
