Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have foiled an alleged kidnapping attempt at the residence of late General Bagudos in Jebbu Bassa, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 10pm on September 9, according to military sources.
The troops, from Sector 1 of the operation, were reportedly mobilised to the area after receiving a distress call over the suspected attack.
They were supported by personnel from the 3 Division Garrison and Keystone Bassa Division.
The arrival of the security operatives reportedly forced the suspected kidnappers to abandon the operation and flee the area.
Military sources said the suspects were believed to be armed Fulani herders.
One of the suspected kidnappers was later arrested and is currently being interrogated by security personnel.
The suspect is expected to provide information that could assist the security agencies in identifying and apprehending other members of the group who escaped.
Security forces have intensified operations in the area as efforts continue to track the fleeing suspects and prevent further criminal activities in the community.
