Lekki Deep Seaport has awarded scholarships to 60 undergraduate students across its six host communities in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
Beneficiaries were selected from Ilekuru, Magbon-Segun, Oke-Segun, Itoke, Idotun, and Lujagba, with the scheme designed to provide essential financial support to students from low-income backgrounds.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Lekki Port Managing Director, Wang Qiang, said the scholarship initiative is part of the company’s broader human capital development strategy.
He noted that investing in education remains a core pillar of the port’s commitment to its host communities.
“Education is the foundation of the future.
“Our goal is to help students pursue their dreams regardless of their circumstances,” he said, reaffirming the company’s pledge to contribute meaningfully to community development.
Community leaders also praised the gesture.
The Baale of Magbon-Segun, Chief Mufutau Dauda, commended Lekki Port for its consistent engagement, promising continued community cooperation to ensure smooth port operations.
One of the recipients, Muritala Esther Morenikeji, a final-year Political Science student at Lagos State University, expressed gratitude, saying the support brings her closer to achieving her academic goals.
