LG chair, 8 councillors dump PDP for APC in Sokoto

The Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Isa Salihu Bashar Kalanjine, alongside eight councillors of the LGA have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kalanjine, who is an ally of the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, announced his defection alongside the eight councillors on Saturday night.

The defectors were received by Senator Aliyu Wamakko Yamman and the APC gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 governorship election in Sokoto State, Hon. Ahmad Aliyu, at Wamakko’s residence in Sokoto.

The councillors who dumped the PDP for the APC include Hon. Zakariyya Madugu, Hon. Abubakar Abubakar Kalanjine, Hon. Abubakar Aliyu, Hon. Halilu Aliyu, Hon. Ibrahim Sarkin Tudu, and Hon. Musa Sulaiman Sakkwai.

Others are Hon. Abdullahi Garba, and Hon. Jamilu Muhammad.

Sen. Wamakko, while welcoming the defectors into the ruling party, assured them of inclusiveness in the development of the party and the state at large.

The senator further expressed confidence that the APC would sweep all the contesting seats in the 2023 general election.
