Liverpool sack Arne Slot, mull Bournemouth’s Iraola as new coach

Liverpool have parted ways with head coach Arne Slot with immediate effect following a review of the Premier League club’s season.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano announced this on Saturday.

Romano disclosed that the Dutch manager’s tenure at Anfield had come to an end after discussions between both parties at the conclusion of the campaign.

“Arne Slot and Liverpool to part ways with immediate effect,” Romano wrote on X, describing the development as an exclusive report.

He added: “It’s over between the Dutch manager and Liverpool after end of the season review.

“Andoni Iraola, clear favorite to take over as next Liverpool head coach.”

Slot, who took charge of Liverpool after succeeding Jurgen Klopp, was said to have reached the decision with the club during a post-season assessment of the team’s performance.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has reportedly emerged as the leading candidate to replace Slot as Liverpool’s next head coach.

The Spaniard has earned widespread praise for his work in the Premier League, guiding Bournemouth to impressive performances and attracting interest from several top clubs.

Confirming the development via a statement, Liverpool said: “Liverpool FC can confirm Arne Slot is to depart his role as head coach with immediate effect and that the process to appoint a successor is under way.

“He leaves with a Premier League title to his name and our deepest gratitude and appreciation.”

The Dutchman departs only a year after leading the Reds to the Premier League title following a fifth-placed finish in his second season in charge.
