Abubakar Malami
Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, has announced his release following an engagement with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a statement shared publicly, Malami thanked Allah for what he described as divine intervention and confirmed that the engagement was successful.
He added that he was eventually released while on an appointment for further discussions as investigations into the allegations against him continue.
Malami described the claims as “fabricated” and said the truth surrounding the matter is still unfolding.
He stated: “In line with my undertaking to keep Nigerians updated on my invitation by EFCC, I give glory to Allah for His divine intervention.
“The engagement was successful, and I am eventually released while on an appointment for further engagement as the truth relating to the fabricated allegations against me continues to unfold.”
The AGF, who is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), assured Nigerians that he would continue to cooperate with authorities to clarify the circumstances surrounding the allegations.
No further details have been provided regarding the nature of the claims or the next steps in the investigation.
This development comes amid heightened scrutiny of public officials and ongoing efforts by the EFCC to probe alleged financial misconduct in government circles.
