Man arrested for killing 35-year-old girlfriend in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a man, Manaseh Bitrus Jatau, in connection with the death of his 35-year-old girlfriend, Rebecca Jeremiah.

The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, September 11, 2026.

Hassan said the deceased, a resident of Karatudu Area, Kaduna, was found dead along Mai Angwa Street, Romi, at about 7:00 a.m. on September 5.

Hassan said the lifeless body of the woman was discovered with cotton wool stuffed in her nostrils.

According to him, police detectives from the Romi Outstation immediately visited the scene and evacuated the victim to St. Gerald Hospital, Kakuri, Kaduna, where a medical doctor confirmed her dead.

The police spokesperson said the corpse had been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.

He said preliminary investigation revealed that Jatau was the last person to have called the deceased to meet him at Ebano Joint, Romi.

Hassan noted that the suspect was subsequently traced and arrested at his workplace in Kaduna.
