Man beats wife to death over lateness to farm

A woman has been allegedly beaten to death by her husband over her lateness to the farm in Efon Alaaye, Efon Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the woman, identified as Modupe Alasin, died after she was mercilessly beaten by her husband.

Alasin was said to have screamed and begged for mercy as the husband flogged her repeatedly over lateness to the farm.

After a few minutes, the man ordered the woman to get water from the nearby stream, but she slumped and died beside it as a result of weakness.

The Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

Abutu said the woman’s husband had been arrested, adding that an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
