Man goes on rampage in Maiduguri hospital, injures staff

A 24-year-old man, John Samson of Damboa Road, Maiduguri, allegedly attacked medical staff and vandalised property at Mamman Shuwa Memorial Hospital, Old GRA, in the early hours of Thursday.

The incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. when Samson, angered over the treatment of his mother who was admitted at the facility, reportedly began smashing hospital equipment with an iron object.

He also chased doctors and nurses on duty, accusing them of negligence.

In the chaos, Dr. Ahmed Haruna sustained a fracture to his left leg while attempting to scale a fence to escape the attack.

The hospital management has condemned the incident as reckless and dangerous.

Police authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.
