Man jailed for stealing mattress, gas cylinder

An Area Court sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, has sentenced one Gideon Simon to two years imprisonment for stealing household items including a mattress and a gas cylinder.

The presiding judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced Simon to prison after he pleaded guilty to the offence on Monday, December 9, 2024.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Monday Dabit, told the court that the case was reported by one Godwin Odugbo at the B Division Police Station in Jos on August 5.

Dabit said Simon trespassed into Odugbo’s home and stole a standing fan, one 12-spring mattress, and a gas cylinder, all valued at N300,000.
