An Area Court sitting in Jos, the capital of Plateau State has sentenced one Aliyu Sani to 30 months imprisonment for stealing phones, smart watches, earbuds, and airtime worth N1,366,000.
The judge, Irene Pati, sentenced Sani to prison after he pleaded guilty to the offence on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
The prosecutor, Inspector Daniel Ijuptil, told the court that the case was reported at the ‘C’ Division Police Station on August 21 by the complainant, Umar Abubakar.
Ijuptil said the complainant told the police that Sani conspired with his gang and broke into his shop and stole four Itel smartwatches, eight earbuds, MTN and Airtel airtimes, and four phones all valued at N1,366,000.

Ijuptil said during police investigation, Sani confessed to have committed the offence.
He added that the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
The judge, thereafter, sentenced Sani to 30 months imprisonment.
Pati gave the convict an option of fine of N20,000 or six months imprisonment for conspiracy and another option of fine of N20,000 or 24 months imprisonment for theft.
