Man killed during turbaning ceremony in Yobe

A 25-year-old man, identified as Maina Jano, has died after being attacked during a turbaning ceremony at Barwa Fulani settlement in Kafetuwa, Karasuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The incident reportedly took place at about 11:50 p.m. on December 26, 2025, while youths were participating in a Shadi competition held during the ceremony of Lamido Alhaji Kunjo.

Sources said Jano, who lived in the Nassara Fulani settlement in Kumaganam, Yusufari LGA, was assaulted by an unidentified individual and sustained severe injuries.

He was taken to the General Hospital in Kumaganam for treatment but later passed away.

Authorities have not yet provided further details regarding the attacker or possible arrests.
