Mass defection hits Kebbi as PDP, APC, SDP members join ADC

A wave of defections has swept through Kamba/Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State, as dozens of members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), and Social Democratic Party (SDP) have decamped to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The new members were officially welcomed into the ADC during a political rally held on Wednesday in Kamba town.

Speaking at the event, the State Chairperson of the ADC, Hajiya Hawa’u Muhammad, popularly known as Yar Buga, described the defections as a significant boost for the party in Kebbi South. She said the growing support for ADC reflects widespread dissatisfaction with the major political parties.

“This movement shows that people are tired of being neglected and are seeking an alternative that truly listens and serves. ADC represents that hope,” she said.

Many of the defectors were reportedly former ward and unit-level officials who cited poor leadership, marginalization, and lack of internal democracy in their former parties as reasons for their departure.

The defection is seen as a strategic win for the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections, especially in a region traditionally dominated by the APC and PDP.
