The operatives of the Bayelsa State Police Command have arrested three suspects for allegedly participating in the lynching of a first-class graduate of the University of Ibadan (UI), Opuofoni Freeborn Ebimotimi, who was accused of stealing bread.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Asinim Butswat, made the disclosure via a statement issued on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.
Ebimitomi, aged 32, graduated from the Department of Business Administration, UI.
The police spokesman gave the names of the suspects as Preye Mathew, 50; Theophilus Tiro, 28; and Famous Precious, 22.

Butswat said the three suspects were arrested at about 5 p.m. on July 9 at Tombia-Amassoma Road in Bayelsa after a mob lynched the suspect.
The police spokesperson, who condemned the mob action, warned the people of the state to desist from taking laws into their hands.
He said the suspects were undergoing interrogation and would be charged to court at the conclusion of an investigation.
