President Bola Tinubu has said he believes God has answered his prayer to continue leading Nigeria, expressing confidence in his political journey and commitment to the country.

The President made the remarks on Monday while reflecting on his recent Umrah pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, during which he was granted access to pray inside the Holy Ka’abah in Makkah.

Tinubu said he had asked Allah for wisdom and resilience to continue serving Nigerians, expressing conviction that his prayer had been granted.

“I asked for wisdom and resilience to continue to serve the people. I know that prayer has been granted,” he said.

The President also recalled performing Umrah before the 2023 general election, saying he had prayed for Allah’s blessings and promised to return in gratitude if his request was answered.

He thanked Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for granting him and members of his delegation the rare opportunity to enter the Holy Ka’abah.

Tinubu described the experience as a historic spiritual honour and a reflection of the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.

He said the experience had strengthened his belief that his emergence as Nigeria’s President was a special blessing that should be matched with responsible leadership and dedicated service.

Quoting Surah Aal-Imran, Verse 26 of the Holy Qur’an, Tinubu said power and authority belonged ultimately to Almighty Allah, who could grant or withdraw them.

He stressed that political power was a trust that must be exercised with humility and in the interest of the people.

The President reaffirmed his commitment to what he called Project Nigeria, promising to pursue policies aimed at promoting prosperity, national development and shared progress.

“My commitment to Project Nigeria is higher. I am determined to usher in prosperity and fully develop the country, consistent with the wish of Allah and the support of the people,” he said.

On the economy, Tinubu expressed optimism about the progress made under his administration, describing the country’s economic foundation as solid and its recovery from a difficult period as encouraging.

“The foundation is solid, and the economy has come out of the dark tunnel. This is inspiring,” he said.

He also called for sustained investment in young Nigerians, warning that the decisions taken by current leaders would shape how future generations remember them.
