N780m fund: Anyim regains freedom after 48 hours in EFCC custody

Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim has regained his freedom from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over N780 million aviation fund.

The Star learnt that Anyim was set free on Tuesday afternoon after his lawyers perfected his bail conditions.

Anyim, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) in the Goodluck Jonathan administration, was taken in at about 3p.m. on Sunday at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

He was grilled by EFCC operatives for the two days he spent in custody.

His interrogation was in connection with the Ministry of Aviation project when Senator Stella Oduah was the Aviation Minister.

It was learnt that part of the N780 million meant for aviation project was allegedly diverted to a company Anyim is a director.

Oduah is being prosecuted by the EFCC over N5 billion money laundering charges.
