The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed that a NAF C-130 military aircraft made an emergency landing in Burkina Faso.
The Confederation of the States of the Sahel (AES) had earlier accused Nigeria of violating Burkina Faso’s airspace after the NAF aircraft made an emergency landing in Bobo-Dioulasso on Monday, December 8, 2025.
Reacting via a statement issued on Tuesday, the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed that the aircraft was on a ferry mission to Portugal on Monday.
Ejodame said shortly after departing Lagos, the aircraft crew detected a technical irregularity that required an immediate safety assessment.

Ejodame noted that in line with established international aviation protocols, the pilots decided to make a precautionary landing at the nearest suitable airfield, which was in Bobo-Dioulasso.
The NAF spokesperson stated that all personnel on board are safe and have continued to receive professional and cordial support from Burkina Faso authorities.
Ejodame said: Plans are ongoing to resume the mission as scheduled.
“The Nigerian Air Force appreciates the support received during this period and assures the public that NAF remains professionally committed to strict compliance with operational procedures and safety standards, ensuring the protection of its personnel while fulfilling its constitutional mandate.”
