Naira appreciates against dollar at official market

The naira appreciated by N8.07 against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Monday, August 17, 2026, closing at N1,349.53.

Data released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the naira gained N8.07 from the N1,357.60 recorded on Friday.

Otedola raises First HoldCo investment with N20.7bn share purchase

The gain represented a 0.6 per cent appreciation against the dollar.

The progress of the local currency at the official market is in continuation of its sustained appreciation for four consecutive days from the previous week.
