Naira depreciates against dollar at official market

The naira depreciated at the official market on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, trading at N1,350.41 against the United States dollar.

Data released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) revealed that the naira lost N7.09.

This represented a 0.5 per cent loss when compared to Tuesday, when the currency traded at N1,343.32 per dollar.

The loss is coming after a six-day steady gain for the local currency, which has remained relatively stable due to ongoing CBN reforms.
