Some aggrieved residents of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Friday, stormed the streets to protest the scarcity of naira notes in the state.

It was gathered that the protesters disrupted activities at the Mile 3 market along Ikwerre road in the state capital.

The incident led to panic as traders and other residents scampered for safety.

It was learned that the hoodlums, who are always available in the market area, seized the opportunity to dispossess people of their property.

A video obtained by The Star showed shops being burgled while passersby and drivers were injured by the hoodlums.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command has yet to react to the incident as of the time of filing this report.
