Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Nasarawa North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sule secured the ticket after winning the party’s senatorial primary held on Tuesday, where he polled 47,393 votes to defeat his only opponent, former Nasarawa Deputy Governor and ex-Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment, Silas Ali Agara, who scored 2,915 votes.
The result gave the governor a wide margin of more than 44,000 votes in the contest.
Announcing the outcome in Akwanga, the Returning Officer, Musa Guri, described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and credible.
He said Sule satisfied all constitutional requirements and guidelines of the APC, making him duly elected as the party’s flag bearer for the senatorial district.
Guri also confirmed the vote totals, stating that Sule clearly led the contest and was accordingly returned as winner of the primary election.
With the victory, the governor is set to contest the Nasarawa North Senate seat under the APC platform in the 2027 elections.
