Popular gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey has disclosed that his wife, Sarah, went through five miscarriages, including an ectopic pregnancy, during the period he was leading the renowned Hallelujah Challenge.

Speaking during the early hours of Friday in the ongoing October 2025 edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, Bassey recounted how he continued to minister in faith despite the painful experiences his family faced.

Bassey reflected on moments when he had to lead worship online while his wife was in the hospital, saying he drew strength from God to continue ministering to others despite his personal grief.

The singer said: “My wife will have to forgive me for sharing this.

“There were times during the Hallelujah Challenge when we had a miscarriage, and nobody knew. I would still come online to praise and dance. A few years ago, she was in the hospital with an ectopic pregnancy. I would leave to lead worship and return to the hospital afterwards. The nurses attending to her would even tell me, ‘It was powerful tonight.’ Not one, not two, not three or four, but five pregnancies.”

Bassey, who has been married to Sarah since 2013, used the experience to encourage believers to remain steadfast in their faith regardless of life’s trials.

“So when people ask, ‘Where is God?’ I say, I understand. God is faithful. One of the words He gave us was, ‘Don’t give up on God,’” he added.

The October 2025 edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, which runs for 25 days from October 7 to 31, features worship, praise, prayer, and fasting sessions commencing at 11:59 p.m.
