The Nigerian Navy is set to open applications for its 2026 Basic Training School Batch 39 recruitment, giving eligible Nigerians an opportunity to apply for enlistment into the service.
The application window is scheduled to run from October 2 to October 31, 2026.

2. Create an applicant account
Once the application window opens, prospective candidates should register using their valid personal details, including their email address, telephone number and National Identification Number.

3. Complete the application form
Applicants should fill in their personal information, including their name, date of birth, state and Local Government Area of origin, contact details, marital status and other information requested on the form.
Educational and professional qualifications should also be entered according to the applicant’s chosen recruitment category.
The Navy’s application form requires details such as NIN, occupation, date of birth, gender, marital status, height and address.

4. Select the appropriate category

The exercise accommodates applicants with different educational and professional backgrounds, including O’Level holders, OND/NCE holders, tradesmen, candidates in certain medical professions and sportsmen and women.

These include the Applicant’s Declaration Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form, Local Government Area Certification Form and Guarantor’s Form. The Navy’s recruitment guidelines have also required candidates to present completed supporting forms during screening.

What happens after online application?

Basic military training
Successful candidates proceed to the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School for military and naval training.
Candidates who successfully complete the training are enlisted into the Nigerian Navy in accordance with the recruitment category and applicable service requirements. The previous NNBTS recruitment guidelines state that successful candidates undergo basic military training before enlistment as Ordinary Seamen.
Who can apply?
For the 2026 exercise, applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and possess a National Identification Number.
O’Level applicants must be aged between 18 and 22 years as of December 31, 2026, and must have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings.
Different age and qualification requirements apply to candidates with OND, NCE and specified professional, trade and sporting qualifications.
Applicants must also meet the stated physical, medical and psychological requirements and have no previous criminal conviction.
