The Nigerian Navy has opened applications for the 2026 Batch 39 recruitment into the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School.
The recruitment exercise will run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, with eligible Nigerians required to submit their applications online through the Navy’s official recruitment portal.
The Navy announced the exercise in a post on its X handle on Monday, urging interested applicants to study the recruitment guidelines before applying.
It stressed that the entire recruitment process is free and warned applicants against paying individuals who claim they can secure recruitment slots.
“Online registration and other recruitment processes are free of charge and no payment should be made at any point to anyone throughout the Exercise,” the Navy said.
The exercise is open to Nigerian citizens by birth who have a National Identification Number and meet the prescribed educational, age, physical and medical requirements.
Applicants must be physically, medically and psychologically fit and must not have a previous criminal conviction.
The Navy also set minimum height requirements of 1.69 metres for male applicants and 1.65 metres for female applicants.
For candidates applying with O’Level qualifications, applicants must be between 18 and 22 years old as of December 31, 2026.
They must also possess at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.
The recruitment guidelines also contain separate eligibility requirements for candidates with OND and NCE qualifications, tradesmen, applicants in medical-related professions and sportsmen and women.
After completing their applications, successful candidates are required to print their acknowledgement form, parent or guardian consent form, Local Government attestation form and guarantor’s certification form.
The Navy said the date and venues for the recruitment examination would be communicated to applicants at a later date.
It urged prospective applicants to rely on the official recruitment portal for further information and warned against submitting multiple applications.
“Only a single valid application is permitted, multiple online applications shall be disqualified,” the guideline stated.
The Navy also said applicants must be able to communicate in basic English, warning that inability to do so could result in disqualification at any stage of the recruitment process.
