The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has opened free supplimentary classes for 1,100 students retaking JAMB and Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) in Kano State.
According to the NDE coordinator in the state, Inuwa Adamu, the initiative is under the agency’s special public works programme.
Adamu, while speaking at the commencement of the classes in Kano on Wednesday, said it was meant to encourage students to improve their grades to secure admission into tertiary institutions.

He stated that the intensive supplementary training was free, adding that the directorate had skilled hands to ensure the candidates were taught well.
He added that 33 teachers were recruited to run the classes for three months, noting that each teacher will receive N20,000 stipend monthly.
The NDE coordinator disclosed that 500 students would participate in Kano South Senatorial District, 200 in Kano North, and 400 students in Kano Central.
One of the students, Kabiru Ibrahim, assured that they would utilise the opportunity to raise their grades and achieve their goals in life.
