NDLEA arrests woman for drug dealing in Lagos, recovers cannabis in Ekiti

The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 65-year-old woman, Ramata Bola Adeyemo, for alleged drug dealing at Lagos Island in Lagos State.

The NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, December 8, 2024.

Babafemi stated that the woman was arrested with 20.6 litres of codeine-based syrup on Friday, December 6.

Babafemi said the NDLEA operatives also arrested one Lawan Manga with 4.7kg cannabis and 1.3kg tramadol at Ogundana Street in the Ikeja area of Lagos State on Thursday, December 5.

He added that 511,000 pills of tramadol were recovered from a Siena vehicle at Hildi, Askira Uba way in Adamawa State by NDLEA officers on patrol along the road in the early hours of Friday.

The spokesman for the anti-drug agency said the occupants of the vehicle had made a detour on sighting the NDLEA team and after a distance abandoned the vehicle with the consignments after noticing the operatives were on their trail.

Babafemi disclosed that two suspects, 48-year-old Olanrewaju Alale and 55-year-old Babatunde Ijadahun, were arrested along the Ise-Emure road in Ekiti State while transporting 108 jumbo bags of cannabis weighing 1, 323 kilograms to Owo in Ondo State from where they claimed the consignment will be moved to the North for distribution.

He said a 33-year-old suspect, Adekunle Yusuf, was apprehended by NDLEA operatives with 704 kilograms of the same psychoactive substance, concealed in white sacks at Idere road in the Igboora area of Oyo State on Friday, December 6.

Babafemi stated that the NDLEA continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation lectures to schools, worship centres, workplaces, and communities among others in the past week.

Commending the anti-narcotic officers for the arrests and seizures, the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), said their operational successes and those of their compatriots across the country, especially their balanced approach to drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction efforts were well appreciated.
