The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted big pellets of skunk concealed in detergent containers at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

The consignment weighing 730grams was brought into the country by a 37-year-old South African returnee, Ezekwesili Afamefune, aboard an Ethiopian Airline flight from Johannesburg, South Africa via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Ezekwesili hails from Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The arrest of the suspect at the Enugu airport was disclosed via a statement issued and made available to The Star on Sunday by the NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi.

In Edo State, a 24-year-old drug dealer Christian John has been arrested by NDLEA operatives in Egbeta in the Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state for selling assorted illicit drugs.

The drugs include sachets of drugged Milo beverage, cannabis sativa, swinol and tramadol tablets.

Also in Zamfara State, a 30-year-old man, Chibuzor Uba, has been arrested by the anti-drug officers with 1,955 ampules of Pentazocine.

The suspected was nabbed on Friday at Kaura Namoda area of Zamfara State.

Commending the anti-narcotic operatives, the Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), charged them and their colleagues across the country to remain focused and abstain from acts capable of compromising or jeopardising the collective goal of ridding Nigeria of drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.
