NDLEA reckless shooting injures youth in Ngurore

A young man has been injured after operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reportedly fired shots indiscriminately during a raid at Ngurore Market in Yola North Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The incident occurred on December 10, 2025, at about 10:00 a.m., when NDLEA personnel stormed a suspected drug hideout within the market and allegedly began shooting sporadically.

During the operation, a stray bullet hit 22-year-old Abubakar Hassan from the Jambutu community, injuring him in the stomach and right leg.

The Divisional Police Officer of Ngurore later visited the scene, while the victim was rushed to Banene Hospital, Ngurore.

Hospital officials confirmed that he is receiving treatment and responding well to medical care.

Residents have condemned the manner in which security agencies conduct raids in crowded public spaces, calling for greater caution to prevent civilian casualties.

The NDLEA has not yet released an official statement on the incident.
