The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has ordered the entire technical crew of the Super Falcons to vacate their positions with immediate effect following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The NFF Executive Committee issued the directive on Monday after a disappointing campaign that saw the nine-time African champions suffer their earliest-ever exit from the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the @NGSuper_Falcons to step down with immediate effect,” the federation announced.
The Super Falcons were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the African championship after losing 1-0 to Cameroon.
The defeat denied Nigeria an automatic World Cup qualification spot and forced the team into the African playoff route.
The Falcons subsequently faced South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in the playoffs but lost 2-1, ending their hopes of reaching the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
The failure marks a major setback for one of Africa’s most successful women’s national teams, which had previously maintained a consistent presence at the global tournament.
The NFF is expected to make further decisions on the team’s technical direction following the removal of the coaching staff.
