NGX opens public offers to investors through WhatsApp

Nigerian Exchange Group has introduced a WhatsApp channel for investors seeking to participate in public offers through its NGX Invest platform.

The new channel allows investors to initiate subscriptions, view eligible offers and complete the required steps through WhatsApp without downloading a separate application.

To access the service, investors can send “Invest” to NGX Invest on WhatsApp at +234 812 731 9521 and follow the prompts.

Investors will still be required to select a stockbroker to process their applications, keeping brokers central to the subscription process.

NGX said the WhatsApp integration is part of its efforts to make participation in Nigeria’s primary capital market more accessible by connecting investors to investment opportunities through platforms they already use.

The exchange said NGX Invest currently operates a distribution network of more than 100 channels, including stockbrokers, banks, fintech companies, mobile network operators and other financial institutions connected through application programming interfaces.

According to NGX, the WhatsApp channel will also give companies raising capital an additional avenue to reach potential investors.

“By integrating WhatsApp into NGX Invest, NGX Group is reducing friction in the investment process and bringing primary-market opportunities closer to investors through a platform they already use every day,” the group said.

It added that the integration would provide issuers with another route to access a broader pool of investors and support capital raising.

NGX said security remains a key part of the new digital investment process, noting that WhatsApp serves only as the interface while subscriptions are processed through NGX Invest’s regulated infrastructure.

The exchange urged investors to use only the official NGX Invest WhatsApp number and warned them against sharing passwords, PINs, one-time passwords or other sensitive information with third parties.

The group said the development forms part of its wider strategy of using technology, partnerships and open distribution infrastructure to increase participation in Nigeria’s capital market.

With WhatsApp added to its distribution channels, NGX Invest is expanding the ways investors can discover and participate in primary-market opportunities while giving issuers another channel through which to reach potential investors.
