Nigeria face Cameroon in AFCON last 16 Saturday

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will on Saturday, January 27, 2024, clash with Cameroon in the round of 16 at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.

The three-time champions who finished second in Group A with 7 points will face Cameroon who also finished second in Group C with four points after defeating Gambia 3-2 in a pulsating game on Tuesday.

Guinea who needed a draw in their game against defending champions, Senegal, lost by 2-0 to drop to third with four points.

Nigeria reached the round of 16 after defeating Guinea-Bissau by a lone goal on Monday.

The last time both the Super Eagles and the Indomitable Lions met at the same stage in the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, Nigeria won 2-1.

The titanic clash between Nigeria and Cameron is slated for the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
