Nigeria secures $396m for IDPs, health projects

The Federal Government has obtained $396 million in concessional financing from international partners to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) and boost healthcare infrastructure.

Finance Minister Wale Edun said after Thursday’s FEC meeting that approvals include a $300 million World Bank credit for IDPs and host communities in northern states, and $96 million from the AfDB and IsDB for the Sokoto State Health Infrastructure Project.

Edun said the funds will aid reconstruction in conflict-affected areas and strengthen healthcare delivery while keeping borrowing sustainable.

He also reported that Nigeria’s economy grew 4.23% in Q2 2025, inflation eased to 18%, and reserves surpassed $43 billion.

Nigeria’s exit from the FATF grey list and a $2bn Eurobond oversubscribed by $13bn, he added, reflect renewed investor confidence.

With 125 million Nigerians now registered under the NIN system, Edun said digital reforms are improving government capacity to deliver direct social support.
