Nigerian student wins global cambridge IGCSE english award

Kenechukwu Oluwanifemi Uba, a student of Caleb International College, Magodo, Lagos, has emerged as the “Top in World” candidate in the November 2024 Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language (Speaking Endorsement).

Her outstanding performance earned her the Outstanding Cambridge Learners Award, presented by Cambridge University Press & Assessment during a ceremony organised with the British Council at the Civic Centre, Lagos.

The certificate was signed by Rod Smith, Group Managing Director of International Education at Cambridge.

In a statement, the Proprietor of Caleb Group of Schools and University, Dr. Oladega Adebogun, described the feat as a reflection of the school’s values of integrity, perseverance and innovation.

He noted that the institution invests heavily in modern teaching methods, including flipped classrooms and AI-driven language labs, to prepare students for global competitiveness.

Uba expressed gratitude to her teachers, classmates, and family, crediting her preparation in the school’s language lab for boosting her confidence.

“This recognition belongs to everyone—my mentors, my classmates, and my family,” she said.

The school highlighted the award as proof of its commitment to nurturing globally competitive students through advanced learning facilities and strong character development.
