NUC accredits FUL courses in Arts, Social Sciences

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has accredited five in the faculties of Arts and Social sciences of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Kogi State.

The accreditation followed the release of the awaited results of the NUC re-accreditation exercise conducted at the university in October and November 2021.

The NUC made this known in a letter addressed to the FUL Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, a copy of which was made available to The Star on Tuesday.

The NUC, in the letter signed by its Director of Accreditation, Dr. Maryam Sali, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, presented details of the technical reports and summary results of the existing academic programmes in the Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Social Sciences visited.

According to the commission, the following are the five academic programmes that retained their full accreditation status valid for a period of five years:

FACULTY OF ARTS

  1. English
  2. History

FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES

  1. Economics
  2. Geography
  3. Political Science

It would be recalled that towards the end of last year (2021), the FUL Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Akinwumi, and his management team received different accreditation panels from the NUC, who visited the university for the re-accreditation of the above-mentioned programmes which were already due for the exercise.
