The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has suspended the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course for prospective corps members posted to Niger State due to ongoing renovation work at the state’s orientation camp.
In a notice shared on its official X account on Sunday, the scheme said affected prospective corps members would be informed of new arrangements for the exercise at short notice.
According to the statement, the management regretted the inconvenience caused to prospective corps members and their parents, assuring them that updates on when and where to report for orientation would be communicated in due course.
The development comes amid efforts to rehabilitate facilities at the orientation camp following infrastructure challenges in the state.
Earlier in the year, a severe windstorm damaged several facilities at the NYSC orientation camp in Paiko, Paikoro Local Government Area, including male hostels, the multipurpose hall, kitchen and staff quarters, prompting Governor Mohammed Bago to order immediate repairs.
Similar postponements linked to renovation works were also recorded in Enugu and Osun states earlier this year.
The 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation exercise commenced nationwide on June 10 and is scheduled to end on June 30, 2026.
