Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has ordered the Edo State Police Command to arrest the killers of a fresh graduate of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Glory Adekolure, in the state.
The Star had reported that the 22-year-old female graduate was raped to death in Edo State.
The late student’s brother, in a recent post on X, said Adekolure was beaten, raped, and killed while she was on her way back home from the university.
He noted that the student was processing her clearance when she was raped to death by unknown assailants in the Iyowa area of Benin, Edo State, on June 13, 2024.
He stated: “Justice for my younger sister Adekolure Idowu Glory, who was raped and killed in lyowa Community Benin Edo state on her way back from school (UNIBEN) she went for her clearance and her corpse drop close to her mother’s house.
“Please help us seek justice for my kid sister that just graduated from university of Benin (UNIBEN) April 2024 and still processing her projects and clearance and was rape to death on her way back from school on Thursday 13th/6/2024 just 22 years.
“Her lifeless body has been deposited to UBTH mortuary on 15/6/24 with the help of the Nigerian police from Ekiadolor division, she was beaten, raped and killed please Nigerians come to my rescue, the help I need now is just for my innocent sister, my mum can’t hold herself.
“Please everyone should help me to retweet and tag those that can help me get justice.”
Reacting, Obaseki, in a statement issued by the Edo State Commissioner for Communications and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, on Wednesday, June 19, condemned the gruesome murder of the UNIBEN graduate.
“Governor Godwin Obaseki has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Funso Adegboye, to fish out the perpetrators of the evil act within the next seven days,” Nehikhare noted.
