The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has called for collaboration with the Sokoto State Government to tackle insecurity in the state.
The Acting Comptroller-General of the NIS, Caroline Adefoju, made the call following the killing of two NIS officers by bandits at Mamman Susa outpost checkpoint at the Gwadabawa area of Sokoto State.
Adefoju made the appeal during a meeting with Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu, in Sokoto on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
She said the purpose of her visit to the state was to condole the deceased families and those receiving medical treatment at Usman Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital in Sokoto.
The Comptroller-General stated that she would not fold her arms and allow the perpetrators to go free.

She pledged to deploy more operatives in collaboration with other security agencies to fight the gunmen who she said are out to disturb the peace of Nigeria.
The NIS boss further appealed to Governor Aliyu to support the Service with vehicles and other logistics to enable the command engage in constant patrol of the country’s borders.
Adefoju also stressed the need for the state government to assist the command toward enlighten and sensitising the leadership of the society in addition to sharing of intelligent information of insurgents.
Speaking, Aliyu described the killing of the two NIS officers as sad.
The governor also promised to support the NIS with vehicles and logistics, saying security is one of his administration nine point agenda.
The acting-Comptroller General also visited four victims of the attack who are receiving medical treatment at Usman Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital in Sokoto.
She also visited the families of the deceased and Sokoto illela/Niger Republic border station where she had a stop at Mamman Suka Immigration outpost checkpoint to make on-the-spot-assessment of the incident.
