The Ogun State Police Command has cautioned religious organisations in the state to avoid holding programmes at nights in the interest of their members’ safety and security.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, gave the warning in Ota, Ogun State, on Thursday, July 6, 2023.
Odutola said it was safer and more advisable to hold programmes during the day in order to avoid unnecessary attacks by hoodlums.
She said: ”We are not saying that people should not undertake their religious activities, we are saying that they should close before it is dark.”

The police spokesperson said by holding programmes in the daytime, worshipers would avoid undue threats to their safety.
”This will also reduce unnecessary pressures on police and other security agencies.
”The current situation in the state calls for every resident to be careful and cautious,” she added.
Odutola, however, urged religious organisations in the state to always contact security agencies before gathering their members in order to ensure adequate security.
Odutola reiterated the commitment of the police in the state to adequately protect the lives and property of the people.
A cleric was recently killed and another abducted at Abule-Ori in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
