Businessman and philanthropist, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, has launched two major educational projects in Are-Ekiti — the Gbemisola Olowolafe Memorial (GOM) ICT Centre and the GOM Community Secondary School (GOMCSS) — in memory of his late wife, Mrs. Gbemisola Olutayo Olowolafe.
The ICT centre, a 40-seat facility with high-speed internet, round-the-clock power, and security, is aimed at providing young Nigerians with advanced digital skills. Its curriculum covers Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Quantum Computing, data analytics, cybersecurity, and digital marketing. Learners will receive globally recognized certifications and lifelong digital identities to track progress.
Beside it stands the GOM Community Secondary School, a model institution equipped with modern classrooms, internet access, and sports facilities. The school has been handed over to the Ekiti State Ministry of Education to serve the local community.
According to its prospectus, the ICT centre will offer Google-certified courses, blockchain and AI certifications, and job readiness training such as CV writing, interview preparation, and internships. Teachers will also undergo professional development through international partnerships, including Google for Education and the Commonwealth Education Trust.
“These projects are about more than technology; they are about proving that Nigerian youth can achieve world-class outcomes from home, regardless of background,” Olowolafe said.
A trained medical doctor and construction entrepreneur, Olowolafe chairs Deux Project Limited. He described his late wife, who died on March 11, 2025, as the inspiration behind his philanthropy, recalling her as “a woman of extraordinary strength, wisdom, and compassion.”
The projects, he said, are intended as a lasting tribute to her legacy of service and empowerment.
