Oluremi Tinubu to flag off FG’s ECoN programme in Kano

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu will on April 23 officially launch Energise Commercialisation Now (ECoN), a Federal Government programme designed to drive innovation and industrial production across the country’s six geopolitical zones.

Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, disclosed this at a news conference on Thursday, describing the three-day event — scheduled to run from April 23 to 25 in Kano — as a national launch and North-West zonal deployment of the initiative.

The programme, spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, is aimed at mobilising innovation, attracting investment, and accelerating industrial output nationwide.

“The landmark event will place Kano State and the entire North-West geopolitical zone at the forefront of Nigeria’s innovation-driven economic transformation,” Waiya said.

The First Lady’s formal launch will be followed by a high-level panel discussion on federal-state synergy for innovation and industrialisation, as well as a mini-exhibition of selected innovations.

The event is expected to draw a broad cross-section of participants, including governors and First Ladies from the North-West, research institutions, universities, polytechnics, startups, private sector investors, manufacturers, development finance institutions, international partners, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders.

Waiya expressed confidence that the initiative would unlock the productive potential of Nigerians and generate lasting economic prosperity.
