The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a suspected serial burglar and recovered photographic equipment and other valuables estimated at more than N21 million.
The suspect was allegedly involved in a series of burglaries targeting studios in different parts of the state, according to the command’s spokesperson, Timfon John.
John disclosed the arrest in a statement issued on Thursday, saying the suspect also assisted investigators in identifying other alleged members of the criminal network.
He said the suspect led police operatives to locations where additional stolen items were recovered.
“The Command is intensifying efforts to dismantle criminal networks and recover stolen property,” the statement said.
The command appealed to residents who may have been victims of similar burglary or theft incidents to come forward and provide information that could assist the investigation.
The latest arrest comes as the Nigeria Police Force continues to highlight its efforts to tackle organised and cross-border crime.
The force recently said its Interpol National Central Bureau had arrested more than 10 fugitives and recovered criminal assets valued at about N2 billion between September 7, 2025 and August 2026.
According to the police, the bureau also facilitated more than five international extraditions and rescued 60 victims of trafficking and kidnapping during the period.
The force attributed the operations to sustained cooperation and intelligence-sharing with international law enforcement agencies.
It added that more than 43 financial crime cases involving 30 countries had been investigated by the bureau during the period under review.
