Online impostor: Doctor turns out to be cleaner, assaults, defrauds woman

A 28-year-old man, Victor Cletus, has been arrested in Ogun State for sexually assaulting and defrauding a young woman he met on Snapchat, after pretending to be a doctor at Babcock University Teaching Hospital.

The victim told police that Cletus posed as a surgeon and convinced her to confide about a breast lump.

He then demanded money for a fake surgery and arranged to meet her on November 18, 2025.

Instead of performing any medical procedure, he allegedly sexually assaulted her and stole funds from her Opay account.

Suspicion arose when Cletus continued pressuring the woman for sexual favors.

A follow-up check with the hospital revealed the shocking truth: Cletus is not a doctor but a cleaner.

He is now in police custody and faces prosecution.

CP Lanre Ogunlowo, Commissioner of Police, condemned the act as “heinous,” warning online predators that the command will clamp down on sexual exploitation and fraud.

He urged women to exercise extreme caution when interacting with strangers online.
