Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has voted for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, in the ongoing presidential election.
Ortom voted for Obi at his polling unit in Tse-Ortom, Mzondu ward, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State on Saturday.
The governor, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, had earlier endorsed Obi against the PDP presidential flag-bearer, Atiku Abubakar.

He had declared that he was ready to sacrifice his senatorial ambition for the victory of the former governor of Anambra State.
Ortom, who is contesting for Benue North-West senatorial seat in the 2023 general election, is one of the aggrieved governors elected on the platform of PDP who have since been at loggerheads with Atiku over his alleged refusal to prevail on the party’s National Chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, to resign after the former Vice President, a northerner, clinched the party’s presidential ticket in May 2022.
The aggrieved governors, known as G5, had insisted that it is unfair for the main opposition party to have the national chairman and presidential candidate from the northern region of the country ahead of the 2023 general election, stressing that Ayu should resign his position for justice, equity, and fairness in the PDP.
