Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has expressed gratitude to the team of medical personnel that handled his surgery at Duchess International Hospital, Lagos.

Osinbajo on Sunday expressed appreciation to the surgeons, doctors and others for their professional care.

“My deep gratitude to everyone for your get-well wishes and prayers following my surgery.

“And special appreciation to the amazing team of surgeons, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and the management of the Duchess International Hospital Lagos @duchesshospital , for providing such excellent care.

“God bless you all,” Osinbajo said

The vice president underwent surgical procedure for a leg injury at the hospital.

The vice president was hospitalized at the Duchess International Hospital, Ikeja on Saturday July 16 on account of a longstanding injury on his leg.

“I have been admitted today at the hospital for a surgical procedure on account of a recurrent pain possibly sustained from an injury while playing squash,” Osinbajo had said.

His spokesman, Laolu Akande, also said: “VP Osinbajo is in the hospital today for a surgical procedure on account of a recurrent pain in the leg possibly sustained from an injury while playing squash. His doctors would give an update of the treatment later today.”

Dr. Adedoyin Dosunmu-Ogunbi, Medical Director, Duchess International Hospital, Ikeja, said the operation was successful.

He disclosed that the vice president will be discharged in a few days.

He said: “The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, was admitted to the Duchess International Hospital, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday on account of a fracture of his right femur (thigh bone), possibly related to a longstanding injury associated with a game of squash.

“He had a surgical operation performed by a team of specialist doctors, including Dr. Wallace Ogufere (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon); Dr. Om Lahoti (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon); Dr. Babajide Lawson (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon); Dr. Ken Adegoke (Consultant in Anaesthesia & Critical Care); Dr. Oladimeji Agbabiaka (Consultant Anaesthetist); and Dr Adedoyin Dosunmu-Ogunbi (Consultant Physician & Medical Director).

“The operation was successful, and he is expected to be discharged within the next few days.”
