Osun poll: Adeleke camp raises the alarm over Fadahunsi’s ‘ballot’ directive

The Imole Campaign Council, the campaign organisation of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has called on security agencies to investigate an alleged attempt to intimidate voters by Senator Francis Fadahunsi during Saturday’s governorship election.

The campaign council’s demand followed the emergence of a video purportedly showing Fadahunsi giving instructions to voters and supporters at his polling unit during the exercise.

In the video, Fadahunsi was heard telling supporters to “monitor their ballot” and reportedly warning, “Whoever does not vote appropriately…” before issuing further instructions.

The development drew condemnation from the Adeleke campaign, which accused the senator of attempting to influence voters and interfere with their choices.

In a statement, the campaign council’s spokesman, Pelumi Olajengbesi, described the remarks as “scandalous, unacceptable and undemocratic.”

According to Olajengbesi, Fadahunsi was seen and heard addressing All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters at Polling Unit 1, NUD Primary School Collation Centre in Ilase-Ijesa, allegedly directing them to monitor how voters cast their ballots and take action against those who did not vote for the party.

“This is scandalous, unacceptable and undemocratic. The security agencies must immediately stop the voter intimidation by Fadahunsi and his foot soldiers,” Olajengbesi said.

The campaign council also linked the development to an earlier controversy involving Fadahunsi over an alleged “kill order” against members of the Accord Party.

Olajengbesi expressed disappointment that the senator had allegedly repeated what he described as a similar pattern of conduct.

“One would have thought that he had learnt his lessons with his last despicable outing, but alas! A leopard never changes its spot,” he said.
