Voting was disrupted on Saturday at the polling unit of former Osun State Governor and immediate past Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, in Ilesa, after suspected thugs allegedly invaded the area.
The incident forced some voters to leave the polling unit temporarily, disrupting the voting process and creating tension among those present.
The disruption occurred amid the ongoing Osun State governorship election, raising concerns about the safety of voters and the smooth conduct of the exercise in the area.
Some party agents alleged that the suspected thugs were affiliated with the All Progressives Congress.
However, the APC agent at the polling unit, Abogunloko Olufunke, dismissed the allegation, saying the individuals were not known to her or the party.
“Those thugs are not our members. I don’t know them,” she said.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.
It was also not immediately known whether any arrests had been made or whether security personnel had intervened to restore order at the polling unit.
