Osun senator Fadahunsi leaves police headquarters after questioning

Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has left the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo after several hours of questioning over alleged inciting remarks made during a campaign rally.

Fadahunsi reported to the State Criminal Investigation Department on Wednesday in response to a police invitation concerning a video from an All Progressives Congress campaign rally in Ilesa.

In the video, the senator’s remarks were interpreted as urging APC supporters to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party.

The Osun State Police Command had summoned Fadahunsi over the alleged comments, describing them as threatening and capable of heightening tension ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

After spending several hours at the police headquarters, Fadahunsi was seen leaving the premises with members of his entourage in a video shared by News Central.

The outcome of the questioning was not immediately known, as neither the police nor the senator had issued an official statement on the matter as of the time of filing this report.

The development comes amid heightened political activity and security preparations across Osun ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party is seeking re-election against candidates of the APC, Accord Party and other political parties.

Fadahunsi, a prominent APC figure in Osun, has been actively involved in the party’s campaign ahead of the poll.
