The management of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has suspended a 17-year-old student of the institution for luring and robbing a man of his N1.5 million.
The Star had reported that the operatives of the Osun State Police Command arrested the girl, who allegedly lured her victim from Lagos to Osun through social media and robbed the man of his phone, which was used to transfer N1.5 million from his bank account.
Speaking on the incident at a press conference in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Thursday, July 13, 2023, the UNIOSUN Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Clement Adebooye, identified the student as Ahiante Victory Ehiremen.
Adebooye said Ehiremen, a 100-level student in the Department of English and Literary Studies, who hails from Edo State, has been suspended indefinitely.

The UNIOSUN VC stated that the suspension would be on until the police conclude their investigations.
He said: “University authorities have decided that Ms Ahiante Victory Ehiremen is hereby placed on indefinite suspension in line with regulations guiding studentship pending the determination of her according to the law of the federation.
“The case of Ahiante Victory Ehiremen is a shock to us, even as she is in her first year of study. I got a security report on her case, and with the official information available, an allegation of conspiracy and robbery has been established against her by the police authorities. Consequently, she is in police custody for further investigations and prosecution.
“Ahiante Victory Ehiremen’s alleged involvement in a criminal act is in violation of her matriculation oath. She has made a written statement which the university has considered alongside the available intelligence report.”
Adebooye stressed that UNIOSUN “is widely renowned for our commitment to excellence in academics and core values of responsible, law-abiding and highly patriotic citizenry. We remain absolutely committed to these ideals.”
