Paternity dispute: Mother responds to daughter’s claims involving Davido

Ayo Labinjoh, the woman at the centre of a renewed paternity controversy involving Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has spoken publicly in response to allegations made by her daughter.

The issue resurfaced on Thursday after a 12-year-old girl, Mitchelle Anuoluwapo, publicly called for a DNA test to determine whether Davido is her biological father. The singer has denied the claim, insisting he is not the child’s father and stating that several DNA tests had already confirmed this.

Reacting in the comment section of a social media post, Davido said he had taken multiple DNA tests, all of which returned negative results. He also maintained that he had never met Labinjoh and described the allegation as false.

In a statement shared on her daughter’s Instagram page, Labinjoh countered Davido’s claims, stating that she met the singer at HQ Club. She alleged that he distanced himself from her because he assumed she was a prostitute.

Labinjoh further disputed Davido’s claim of having conducted DNA tests, alleging that the process carried out in 2014 was flawed. According to her, the blood sample taken from her daughter was discarded and a false result produced.

She claimed that the test was conducted at a laboratory rather than a hospital and named individuals she alleged were involved in the process. Labinjoh described the test results as fake and said the experience negatively affected her daughter’s mental health.

She also accused Davido of threatening and verbally harassing her daughter, insisting that the ongoing dispute was about her child’s right to know her identity, not a personal fight.

Labinjoh added that she intends to seek the involvement of the United States State Department and the US Embassy in Nigeria to ensure that an independent and transparent DNA test is conducted under proper supervision.

She concluded by condemning what she described as bullying and offensive language directed at her daughter, insisting that her child deserves dignity and fairness amid the controversy.
