Patient dies after car runs over him at Jos teaching hospital

A middle-aged man, identified as Mallam Zubairu, has died after a vehicle ran over him at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) premises in Plateau State.

It was gathered that Zubairu, a resident of Lamingo in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State, visited the hospital for a health-related issue where he met his untimely death on Wednesday.

A family member, identified simply as Abok, disclosed that the deceased visited the hospital for a routine check-up for an ailment.

Abok added that Zubairu was on his way going out of the hospital when he was run over by a vehicle.

“I usually take him to the hospital for his routine checks but he did not call me today (Wednesday) and I was told his son brought him to the hospital.

“He had successfully seen the doctor and was on his way to the car park within the hospital while his son left him to get a motorcycle that would convey them home.

“He unfortunately collapsed while walking and a vehicle ran over him and he sustained injuries.

“He was immediately rushed to the emergency section of the hospital for attention but he sadly passed away,” he said.

A staff of the hospital who expressed shock at the incident, described the deceased as a well-known person in the hospital, saying he supplied vegetables to most officials of the hospital.
